Description
CollectA's replica of the Oviraptor is detailed and lifelike, down to its feathers and distinctive crested head. The Oviraptor's name means ''egg taker'' in Latin, because its partial skeleton was found on a pile of fossilized eggs. Scientists originally thought those eggs were part of the Oviraptor's diet. Later analysis shows that the eggs were probably Oviraptor eggs, indicating that the specimen was found on or near a nest. Based on the fossilized skeleton, scientists estimate that the Oviraptor lived about 75 million years ago in the area that is now Mongolia. It was probably about 8 feet long and weighed approximately 75 pounds. This beautifully sculpted, collectible figure from our Prehistoric Life Collection measures 3.5''L x 2''H. Each figure in our Prehistoric Life Collection has been approved by archeologist Anthony Beeson, a well-respected expert in paleoimagery
